Dyer Kickers offers a Rec+ Traveling League that has been gaining interest in the last few years. This league is geared to the more experienced player. It is more structured and more competitive compared to our in-house recreational program. The league is comprised of 20+ clubs in Northwest Indiana and is affiliated with NWISL (nwisl.com). Several of our Rec+ players have moved on to play at the elite club level.
NWISL places each team in one of several tiers. Team placement is based on the time the team has been together, how many players the club returns to the league every year, and other factors. New teams with newer players are generally placed in lower divisions; whereas, teams that have played together and have done well move up to higher divisions.
Coaches for Rec+ are parent volunteers but often have more experience than in-house coaches. They typically hold two practices per week. Games are set by NWISL and usually occur on Sundays between noon and 3:00 p.m. Some Saturday games are possible and should be expected. Home and away game locations vary by who is in our bracket. Towns include: Munster, Highland, Hammond, Lansing, Valparaiso, Portage, Lowell, Schererville, Griffith, Ogden Dunes, Crown Point, Duneland, Hobart, Laporte, Union Township, Michigan City, Demotte, Lake of the Four Seasons, and Hebron. There are four home and four away games.
Also, the Rec+ league has the opportunity to compete in an out of state tournament each season.
Because this is a competitive league, Dyer Kickers reserves the right to hold player evaluations before players are placed. Player spots are limited by NWISL.
